Tekno Extreme's powered skateboard
According to the company, "The fact that two different types of wheels can be mounted on the StreetBoard extends dramatically its usage flexibility. The StreetBoard with the three regular wheels is perfectly suitable for any conventional street or track, the version with the spike-furnished rear wheel and the two runners in the front masters seamlessly any kind of ice track... The wheels' direction is determined by the feet and the lateral movements of the body. Moving back or forth the body accelerates or stops the StreetBoard. These simple and safe movements will recall you an exciting and wild snowboard ride..."

Russ Kaufman - Powered Board Pioneer And Innovator - Speaks Out!
Russ Kaufman, one of the innovating pioneers in powered boards, shares with us some of his perspective. Sit back and enjoy as Russ tells his story... "That was 15 years ago. I built it to shred the local woods. It was tough enough to take a beating and weighed just over 22 pounds. If that doesn't sound light, start checking the weight of the boards available today. Weight is critical! I thought I was going to start a new sport. I spent a bunch of money on a useless patent and a marketing company that later vanished. On the up side, I did have a rowdy dirt board, and people started calling me "that guy who straps himself to a chain saw" ... CLICK HERE FOR MORE OF RUSS'S PICTURES AND STORY
Introducing WILDFIRE Electric Powered Skateboards
The WILDFIRE is a new series of electric powered skateboards that have been in prototype, research and development for several years by Joel "Flash" Fremlin and his team. They are seeking a manufacturer or others to assist them in bringing their designs into production.
Joel writes, "One of my favorite stories about our skateboard is when one night at dusk Abe Chavez was practicing in a local Target-Starbucks parking lot. All at once three police cars turned on their lights and came at him from opposing ends of the parking lot. They pulled up their cars tightly encircling him..." Daniel Burnham's Jetsurfboard!
Daniel Burnham of Spokane River has patented and built a prototype version of his version of what the powered surfboard of the future should be - and as the picture above shows, it is a fast future indeed. "This board is so fun to ride you have to see it to believe it," writes Daniel. "Note how easy to take off from shore and ride! I can ride right back into shore and step off the board and only get my feet wet. Fun! " Daniel's board was recently featured on TV on Spokane's local news. For more info, see Daniel's web site: http://web.archive.org/web/20070208182051/http://www.angelfire.com/extreme4/jetsurfboards/
EDGE OF CREATION MOTOBLADEtm
The Motoblade is currently undergoing research, development and deployment! Its unique design promises to offer an exciting experience in the world of offroad and street powerboarding.
THE NAME'S BOND... POWER-SKI BOND... The Bond Minicar Works of England produced the Power-Ski back in the 1960's... More of a powered waterski than a powered surfboard - and primitive by today's standards - it nonetheless stands as an interesting forerunner of the modern powered surfboard.
HELP! EPA and Environmental Researchers Want Giant Hydrojet Powered Surfboard to use as a work platform for research and environmental maintenance around mangrove islands and bird/animal sanctuaries in Florida! (Seriously, we're not making this up) They write: "What we are looking for is very similar to the powered surf-boards you display. However, what we need is a slow speed (10 knots max.) craft approximately 17 to 20 feet in length, 8 feet 6 inches in beam, and a max draft of 2 inches. This craft must be very light weight and be "Jet" powered. It should have a flat deck and be no more than 1 foot thick. In essence, a floating powered work platform... If you know of any vendors that supply power plants (jet drives), fittings, hulls similar to the above, or complete boats, please inform us as soon as possible." Do you know of any such craft, or where they could obtain jet drives, hulls or parts such as this? Also, if you know of a good source for regular sized jet drives, this would be a benefit to others who are interested in building their own hydrojet powered boards. While we're on the subject, do you know of a good source for electric batteries and engines suitable for powering an electric hydrojet? What the EPA and researchers are primarily interested in are conventional gasoline-powered hydrojets (due to their much greater practicality, range, endurance, low maintenance, etc) but if you know of electric alternatives, let's get the word out about that too. Help the EPA save the environment on a giant jet powered surfboard and help others who want to build their own boards, whether gigantor-scaled or regular size!
Motorsurf? Jetboard? Motorsurf Corporation is currently in the development stage of their Jetboard? , a light, high performance hydrojet surfboard.
Bob Douglass, SurfJet Enthusiast
"I have had SurfJets since 1985. My first two are 1981 Standards purchased from a resort at the Lake of the Ozarks. My son began riding them when he was only 6. I had them completely restored about 7 years ago. I also have a 1995 Pacifica that I purchased from Motoboard about 5 years ago." In comparing the 1981 SurfJet "Standard" model with the more recent 1995 Pacifica, Bob reports: "1981's have a magneto ignition while the 1995 is CDI. There were also some carburetor improvements on the 95. The 95 carb is more efficient but not as reliable. I have already had to rebuild it. The 95 Pacifica is a few inches shorter than the Standards and, out of the factory weighed probably 10-15 lbs. less. The big difference between handling and performance is due to weight. The Standards are foam filled two piece construction. The Pacifica appears to be one piece with no seam. Over the years my 81's have absorbed moisture into the foam filling, so they are quite a bit heavier. Have been aiming to weigh them- I even have bought extra bathroom scales for this purpose (it takes three). Oh, the Pacifica has fins on each side of the back which really help on tight turns. However, the Standards are easier for a novice to ride." Bob has put down a deposit for a Powerski Jetboard and is hoping to take delivery as soon as they start shipping their boards.
