THE BOARD THAT TIME FORGOT

On Wednesday, August 15, 2001 a previously unopened, new in the box Jet Board from the late 1960's was opened at the Jamaican Me Crazy party at the Holiday Inn Oceanfront, Melbourne Beach Florida.

Eric explains to Alan that the board exists.  Alan  points and disagrees - "This thing can't exist!"

The Jet Board's air intake is a small metal vent just behind the raised portion of the deck.  This air goes to the engine for combustion; water is sucked from below the board and blasted out the back.  Engine is water-cooled.

Bill, Buddha (of Surfguru.com), and Eric hold the board to show its internal engine compartment with the watertight cover removed.   Surfguru.com provided internet coverage of the event including video and is the prime source for East Coast Florida surf, fishing, and recreational water information.  Note the white discolorations on the board's rear section, below Bill, and also below Eric's hand - these are pieces of packing foam still sticking to the board after its long hibernation in its original box. The actual condition of the board is brand new, with virtually no damage or age effects!

Eric gently pulls the starter cord to show that the engine has no "vapor lock," turns easily, and if you put some gas in it, would probably start right up!  Yet the board has never been ridden or even started, and for the time being, won't be!  Note that Alan is still dazed by the spectacle, and refuses to believe his eyes.

The board's color is "Jet Board tangerine red" and in addition to an engine maintenance manual, we also have a new, unused can of "Jet Board tangerine" touchup spraypaint which came with the board!

The board remains brand new, unridden, and in ultimate condition.  It may be coming soon to an event near you...
